Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel:
Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel is one of the most successful fashion designers in the world. Coco was born on August 19, 1883, in Saumur, France. Gabrielle Chanel was an orphan and learned how to sew. Previously, Coco was a singer before opening her first store in 1910. It was in the 1920s when Gabrielle Chanel released her first perfume. Then she later introduced the Chanel suit and the little black dress. Chanel made a fashion business which became successful until the 1930s when she stumbled on a problem. After the 'Roaring Twenties' the Great Depression had started so Chanel had to fire workers and needed to make a choice to shut down. Chanel was involved with a scandal and kept her business. Today, her business is still a success and is known as a 'timeless' fashion business. Gabrielle Chanel died on January 10, 1971.

Jeanne Lanvin:
Jeanne Lanvin or Madame Jeanne Lanvin was a French Haute Couture fashion designer. Lanvin opened many shops which contained home decor, mens wear, lingerie and furs. In the early 1920s, Jeanne Lanvin created perfumes that were very popular and successful. Jeanne Lanvin had a giant business that she had and invited her dear friend, Rateau; to be a manager there. Rateau designed and helped the business grow into a big success. Lanvin's daughter was then later a manager at one of Lanvin's main stores. Jeanne Lanvin died on July 6, 1946. |

Elsa Schiaparelli was one of the most famous famous fashion designers in the world. A leader that lead the 1920s and 1930s fashion. Elsa Schiaparelli was born in Rome, Italy in 1890 on September 10. Elsa Schiaparelli went to New York to work at a boutique. Then she had later moved to Paris to start creating her own clothes. Her fashion sense was a mold for the fashion of the 1920s and the 1930s. Famous and popular people wore her clothes. Elsa designed for the famous and rich and was given much praise. Elsa Schiaparelli died on November 13, 1973 in Paris, France. The famous fashion designer is still praised for her works and is seen as a legend in the fashion world. |
Norman Hartnell:
Norman Hartnell was born in London on 1901 and had set up his fashion house in 1923. Norman Hartnell is most famous for his lavishly romantic evening and bridal gowns. Mr. Hartnell designed longer-length skirts which contradicted the short dresses of the 1920's flappers. It was said that he is responsible for ending the flapper era, as his designs were sought after by the sophisticated British 'elite'. |
Jean Patou:
Jean Patou was born in Normandy in the north of France. Mr. Patou worked in his family's leather tanning trade for a brief time. Mr. Patou had a younger sister that was seven years younger than him. His sister gave him inspiration for his work. Mr.Patou established his first dressmaking business in Paris in 1910. It did not continue, he continued to make another dressmaking business called the Mason Perry. It was located at the Rond Point in Paris. The business was a tailleurs and it had sold dresses and furs. In 1922 and 1925, Jean Patou visited America and gained new ideas for his expertise. Patou opened a boutique called "Le Coin des Sports" in 1925 as well as releasing his first perfumes. |

Hilda Steward was someone that no one knew much about. But they did recognized her fashionable drawings. Hilda Steward was a woman that produced the elegant high-end fashion lines. She was an anonymous designer that was one out of hundreds across the country. The designs that Hilda Steward created were very fashionable since it meet the requirements of the standard trends from the 1920's. |
Victor Stiebel:

Victor Stiebel was born in South Africa in 1907 and traveled to England in 1924 to settle. Mr. Stiebel was employed and worked at the House of Reville for three years. He had decided to open his own fashion house in the 1932 but he had V&A collections that covered the late 1920's to the early 1930's fashion. He became highly successful in the fashion business. His clientele or clients included leading actresses and royalty. Victor Stiebel passed away in 1973. |
